Avi, the author of some 65 young adult
books, visited the Junior School and Middle School on Friday, May 11.
The Middle School visit was for the 6th grade and Form I students. Avi's
book "Crispin: The Cross of Lead" was the 2003 Newberry
Medal winner. Faculty lunched with Avi before the assembly. It was a great
opportunity for many to engage in a dialogue about writing and Avi's career.
The assembly included a slide show. Avi answered many questions from Shady
Side students and a book signing followed the assembly.
