Cultural Extravaganza
2007

On January 29, students speaking 19 different languges kicked off International Week at Shady Side Academy. International Week provides students with a host of events and opportunities to celebrate Shady Side Academy's rich ethnic and cultural diversity and showcase the students' love of learning other languages. The week culminated with the Cultural Extravaganza in the Hillman Center. Students performed dances, songs and skits to give us a look into different cultures and languages they study. Below are some of the groups who performed on February 2nd.

The Greek Dance Group performed a mix between a traditional Greek island dance song, "The Ikarian" and some more modern Greek melodies.

German skit, inspired by a Grimm's fairy tale.

The Black Student Union performs a dance inspired by Motown/soul music (combination of rhythm, blues, gospel).

The Indian Dance Group performs a dance fusion mingling upbeat Bhangra music along with more traditional Gujarati stick dance.

The Eastern European Dance Group performing a gypsy inspired dance.
